Hotel Near Yosemite South Entrance

If you’re heading to the park from Southern California, San Diego, or Los Angeles, the southern entrance is your entryway to the park. Our hotel near Yosemite’s south entrance is the perfect place to stay, whether you’re heading further into the park or looking to visit all the things to do in the Sierra foothills, in California’s Gold Country.

Explore Yosemite's colorful meadows, breathtaking waterfalls, majestic mountains, sparkling lakes, giant sequoias, monolithic rocks and 800 miles of hiking, biking, skiing and equestrian trails. A World UNESCO site and one of America’s earliest protected parks, visiting Yosemite National Park is the trip of a lifetime. From high-flying adventures to still moments in the majesty of nature, there’s a lot to pack in on one trip.

Central to the Yosemite experience is Yosemite Valley, the glacial valley at the heart of the park. The valley is surrounded by granite cliff faces, including the iconic Half Dome. The Valley is home to walking and hiking trails, shuttle services, and more iconic scenery than your camera or phone has space to capture!

From Our Hotel at the Southern Entrance into Yosemite

We are located just 15 miles south of the park’s southern entrance, in the largest town close to this entry point. Our hotel staff is always ready to provide recommendations and organize tours into the park. Here are some of our recommendations from the hotel into the heart of Yosemite Valley:

  • Head north from Oakhurst along Route 41 into the park. Stop at Sugar Pine Railroad in Fish Camp just before entering the park to hop aboard a 30-minute train ride back in time.
  • Continue on and walk amongst giants in Mariposa Grove, the largest grove of sequoias in the park, set to reopen in June 2018. The thousands of years old Grizzly Giant stands tall at 209 feet.
  • If it’s the height of the summer season, consider hopping on one of the free shuttle buses that leave from Mariposa Grove, to avoid traffic delays.
  • Head along Highway 41 as it becomes Wawona Road. You will pass by an intersection with Glacier Point Road—turning right on this road will take you straight to the heights of Glacier Point.
  • Stay on Wawona Road as peeks of the valley and El Capitan appear on the left, until you arrive at a tunnel: prepare yourself for the view on the other side! The viewpoint, Tunnel View, is a picture-perfect panorama over Yosemite Valley.
  • From here, you’ll descend into Yosemite Valley itself. For more detailed information, visit the National Park Service website
