Glacier Point

Glacier Point is a sky-high viewpoint on the south wall of Yosemite Valley. At an elevation of 7,214 feet, the famous overlook in Yosemite's high country offers commanding views of Yosemite Valley, including Yosemite Falls, Half Dome, Vernal Fall, Nevada Fall, and Clouds Rest. You can reach Glacier Point by car, tour bus, x-country ski trails and hiking trails that ascend 3,214 feet above the beautiful valley floor and Curry Village. Take the 4-hour Glacier Point Tour to see Yosemite's towering waterfalls and mesmerizing sights.

Glacier Point Tour

The Glacier Point Tour is a spectacular round-trip journey from Yosemite Valley to Glacier Point, which towers 3,200 feet above the valley. Departing daily from Yosemite Lodge, the 4-hour tour offers panoramic views of Yosemite Falls, Nevada and Vernal Falls, and the magnificent High Sierra. You can also buy a one-way ticket and hike back into Yosemite Valley on the Four Mile Trail or the Panorama Trail, where the views are awesome. To make reservations, call 209-372-4386.

Hiking & Skiing

Enjoy a 3 - 4 hour hike on the Four Mile Trail from Yosemite Valley near Swinging Bridge up 3,200 feet to Glacier Point. The trail is open June - November and offers beautiful views. The challenging Panorama Trail gives hikers a different perspective of the valley. During the winter, you can cross-country skiers ski from the Badger Pass Ski Area for 10.5 miles on Glacier Point Road to experience exhilarating views. Pick up trail maps at Curry Village Mountain Shop, Village Sport Shop and the Glacier Point store.

  • Is Glacier Point accessible by car?

    Glacier Point and Yosemite's high country is accessible by car on Glacier Point Road from late May through October or November. Drive to Glacier Point by taking Wawona Road - the extension of Highway 41 within the park After traveling 13 miles, turn on Glacier Point Road at the Chinquapin intersection. The drives north from Wawona and south from Yosemite Valley take about an hour.
  • What are fun things to do at Glacier Point?

    Glacier Point is one of the best overlooks in Yosemite Valley to enjoy spectacular views of waterfalls, mountains, and watching the changing light on Half Dome as the sun sets. Glacier Point is also an excellent spot for stargazing, catching sunsets and enjoying ranger programs. Stop in the Gift Shop for souvenirs, snacks and ice cream. Hike down from Glacier Point into the scenic valley.
