Highlights of Yosemite
Valley Glacier Point
One of the most awe inspiring overlooks on earth. You will tower 3,300 feet above the valley floor and have a bird's eye view of many of the popular areas of Yosemite National Park.
Tunnel View
A full view of the Yosemite Valley, including El Capitan, Half Dome, Sentinal Rock, Cathedral Rocks and Bridalvail Falls can be seen here. It is also considered one of the most photographed views in the world.
Half Dome
One of the most predominant features of the valley. You can hike around the back-side of Half Dome (summer only) and climb to its summit.
El Capitan
Standing nearly 4,000 feet above the valley floor, this massive rock formation challenges climbers from around the world. You can often spot climbers inching their way up the face of this granite wall.
Sentinel Rock
Located almost directly across from Yosemite Falls.
Vernal Fall, Nevada Fall and Mist Trail
One of the most popular hikes in the Valley is the Mist Trail. Starting at Happy Isles, Mist Trail climbs beside the scenic Merced River to Vernal Fall, a 330 foot drop, and Nevada Fall, a 600 foot drop.

Bass Lake
Visit beautiful Bass Lake for fishing, water and snow skiing, or wildflower gathering, a camper’s paradise. Take a one hour guided tour on the Bass Lake Queen II steam wheeler. The Bass Lake Boat Club and local Chamber of Commerce sponsor the annual 4th of July fireworks display over Bass Lake.
Coarsegold
Plan a visit to Coarsegold, on the South Fork Highway, a tiny thriving cattle town and home to both the Central Sierra Festival of the Arts and the Annual Coarsegold Rodeo.
Fresno Flats Historical Park
Located in Oakhurst. Visit the historic buildings, jailhouse and the 1868 log house. Open Sunday afternoons.
Golden Chain Theatre
Located in Oakhurst. Attend plays, dance recitals and other year ‘round entertainment. Call (559) 683-7112 for ticket information.
North Fork Loggers’ Jamboree
Plan to spend your 4th of July weekend in North Fork, once a logging capital, and now the home of the Loggers’ Jamboree which is held annually and a major Central California attraction.
Pan for Gold in Ahwahnee
Located west of Oakhurst along the Golden Chain Highway (Highway 49). Home of the California State Gold Panning Championships held annually in mid June.
Semiannual Mountain Peddler’s Fair
The fairs are held the Sundays prior to Memorial Day and Labor Day in Oakhurst and offer antiques, food, arts and crafts, bargains and fun for the entire family.
Sierra Mono Museum
Tour the museum, operated entirely by Native Americans and dedicated to the preservation of Indian culture. Located in North Fork, the geographical heart of California. The museum sponsors the Annual North Fork Indian Fair Days the first weekend in August.
